Medical MarijuanaElgin:

The planning and zoning commission of Elgin approved a proposal from Chicago-based Salveo Health & Wellness Ltd. The company would set up a medical marijuana dispensary on the city’s southwest side at 1330 Crispin Drive in the Fox Bluff Corporate Center. Prior concerns about security measures were addressed, including curbing criminal activity in the area.

According to the Quincy Journal, Salveo Health & Wellness is proposing additional medical marijuana dispensaries in Rockford and Quincy, in addition to cultivation centers in Quincy and near Roseville.

Fulton:

The Fulton City Council voted unanimously to potentially sell 20 acres of city-owned property to NuMed Farmacia Holdings, LLC for the build-out of a cannabis cultivation center. NuMed will be able to exercise this option to purchase the land if the company receives a grant for a cultivation license later this year.

The sale would bring in $250,000 for the city. It will also add 20 to 25 jobs and generate property taxes in the area.

Quincy:

Quincy’s city council approved zoning ordinances on Aug. 4 to help regulate where medical marijuana businesses can be located. Distribution centers would be located in commercial areas such as Broadway or downtown while growing centers would be regulated to more industrial areas.

The Mayor’s office has received half a dozen inquiries from businesses interested in opening up shop in the city. They had more in-depth discussions with two interested parties from the area.

Warren County:

The Warren County Board voted 8-5 in favor of allowing a medical marijuana cultivation center in the area. A proposed operation would be located east of Roseville and owned by brothers Andy and Frank Huston in conjunction with Salveo Health and Wellness. The board will submit a letter in favor of the development of the Illinois Department of Agriculture. They are who approves license applications in the state.

Wood River:

A marijuana cultivation center may be coming to Wood River. The City Council voted unanimously to allow Largo Meds, LLC to construct a plant at the EnviroTECH Business Park. The mayor said that other locations in the district, which will receive only one cultivation center, are under consideration.

Woodstock:

The Woodstock Plan Commission voted 7-0 unanimously to allow Crystal Lake company 4500 NW Highway LLC to open a dispensary on the city’s south side. The location at 2300-2312 S. Eastwood drive is not easily accessible from the surrounding parks.
