Chicago Issues First Dispensary Permits
Chicago handed out city permits to three medical marijuana dispensaries on October 17th but left one open for further discussion with a conservative alderman.
Four dispensaries were set to be the topic of discussion at a meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals – the group which will issue 13 special-use permits throughout the city. But the proposal for a dispensary in Archer Heights moved forward at the request of Alderman Edward Burke (14th).
The three dispensary locations issued permits that day include Wicker Park at 1368 N. Milwaukee, West Loop at 955 W. Lake St. and Avondale at 3541 N. Elston Ave. Each location has an endorsement from the Department of Planning and Development, and each received unanimous approval.
All locations are still waiting for state approval that should come by the end of the year.
