Illinois Approves First Medical Marijuana Patients
The state of Illinois has begun sending approval letters to the first patients to apply for legal medical marijuana. The news was confirmed by Illinois Department of Public Health spokeswoman Melaney Arnold.
While only a dozen or so letters were sent as of Sept. 29, thousands of prospective patients have sent in applications since applications acceptance began at the beginning of the month.
Applications are only being accepted from patients with last names A through L through the end of October. Patients with last names M through Z will be able to apply beginning in November. The expectation is that a rolling application process for all patients will begin in 2015.
