Montana Medical Marijuana Program Current Stats (July/2017)
There are more than 15,000 registered patients in Montana so this could take a toll on some of the patients receiving their treatment. Just in December of 2016, there were only 8,000 registered patients, so with the state almost doubling its patients with the legalization, it showed that the people in Montana are beginning to take advantage of the health benefits.
Some of these changes include clarifications on the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, specifically the regulations they will make on marijuana testing laboratories and manufacturers during that period. The rules also state that the health department can issue licenses to marijuana facilities on temporary and case-by-case basis’ and this is so that they can legally handle medical marijuana, despite the necessary testing not taking place until 2018.
Voters approved of medical marijuana in Montana last November and ever since the market has been exploding throughout the state. In 2011, the state had a highly restrictive law that capped dispensaries to a maximum of three patients. That made it impossible for business owners to run a productive provisioning center. Which lead to the November 2017 vote to expand the medical marijuana program in Montana. The program expansion is great news for the medical cannabis patients in Montana. Montana will continue to see more patients who can benefit from the use of medical marijuana moving forward.
